Goals

  • Restore the eroded bank of the Connecticut River at the north end of the park.  This project requires protective fencing to keep people and animals off the bank while newly installed shrubs and native plants in the spring of 2024 take hold, roughly 3-5 years.
  • Continue control of invasive plants in treated areas along the boundaries with the former golf course.  Begin treatment along Girl Brook.
  • Begin restoration of the area damaged from maintenance and removal of the high bridge across the Girl Brook Ravine and add native plants.
  • Continue to address trail maintenance issues, particularly along the Fern and North and South Connector Trails.
  • Continue restoration of the river forest through dealing with unsightly piles of slash, planting new trees, and protection of saplings from deer.
  • Continue to plant native trees in the meadowlands of the former golf course.
