Welcome to Pine Park!

The Pine Park Association was formed in 1905 to preserve an initial 45 acres for the “public health, growth, and material prosperity of the Town of Hanover.” Pine Park is the oldest conservation area in Hanover.  Since then, it has expanded to include roughly 100 acres.

Over six miles of lovely trails are open to the public. There are five different entrances to the park from Rope Ferry Road, Occom Ridge, and Route 10.  Access to the level areas along the Connecticut River and Girl Brook is available from several locations, all of which are quite steep.  Walkers will find easier grades along the Rope Ferry Trail that wanders into the woods on a rediscovered stretch of the original Rope Ferry Road constructed in 1766.

With the closure of the Hanover Country Club, 9 acres of golf course land have been reclaimed to provide an all-person entrance trail from Rope Ferry Road.

See if you can spot the site of the rope ferry that crossed the river to Norwich between 1766 and 1786 before the Ledyard Bridge was constructed. Dartmouth students used the ferry to reach a tavern on the other shore. And see if you can spot the small patches of old growth forest along the Girl Brook Trail.
