Tribute Tree Program

The trustees of Pine Park are in the midst of a major effort to rewild the former golf course and create a more diverse forest in the woodlands, where major die-back from disease and insect pests has occurred.  We are also inviting people who love the park to select a tree and choose a location to honor someone special or commemorate an event.

Our goal is to introduce trees that are hardy, long-lived, pest resistant, provide color, and offer food and shelter for wildlife and insects.  The total cost per tree is $3000, which includes $1500 to purchase and maintain the tree, plus $1500 as a contribution to The Pine Park Association.  The price reflects the fact that the trees have to be large enough to discourage deer browsing and that they are guaranteed for a year.

You can choose your preferred tree from this list, which offers links to descriptions and pictures of the various species.  You also can select an area of the park shown on this map, which is designated by letters.  For example, someone might select a red oak to be planted in the woodland near the Fern Trail labeled as area C. For help with this process, please email info@pinepark.org.

The Association can process your request at any time but will order trees once a year in late winter/early spring.  The planting will take place in late April to Mid-May.
