Trail Cleanup for National Trails Day

Trail map showing work areas

A busy group of volunteers showed up this morning to help clean up Pine Park trails. This involved removing fallen branches and logs from the trail, and raking way any bark. Smaller branches were put into piles along the trail, for later chipping by Dartmouth College. The goal was to leave a nice wide walkway.

The work areas were on the Girl Brook Circuit Trail along the Connecticut River, as shown in the map. The worst area was at the junction of all the trails at work area #2. Volunteers worked from 10 am until noon.

The end results were fantastic: a clean wide trail. As students ran through, they thanked us for the improvements.

Thanks very much to all who helped. Thanks also to the project sponsors: Pine Park Association, Hanover Conservancy, Dartmouth College, and the Town of Hanover.
